Blogs & News
Our recent blogs have covered Aridhia’s involvement in the PHEMS project, and the development of the Federated Node for the PHEMS federated network. This blog provides more information on the PHEMS network and the preview release of the Federated Node
The Federated Node (FN) project is hosted within our new Aridhia Open Source organisation in Github, which will be used to host all of the company’s open-source projects going forward.
The Federated Node repo can be accessed here, and the code is available under the GNU GPL V3.0 license. As this is an open-source project and a preview release, we are actively seeking feedback from all users, current or prospective, so if you discover a problem or have a feature request please raise an issue in the project repo or get in touch with the team via opensource@aridhia.com.
The preview release has been comprehensively tested by an independent contractor who identified no significant concerns, and the small number of advisory items they identified in their report have been added to the product backlog and will be resolved in the next version.
Following the preview release, our immediate priority will be helping set up the PHEMS federated network using the Federated Node, with an initial focus on the clinical benchmarking use case:
The MVP network should be operational by the end of Q1 2025. Also as part of PHEMS we will be developing an integrated machine learning capability for the FN. We will provide further information on both projects as work progresses.
As detailed in the introductory PHEMS blog, we have also developed the DRE to support the Federated Node as a data source, and this is now available as a production feature. This means that where a data owner has a deployed Federated Node they can easily map it to a metadata record in FAIR, and enable the transfer of API auth tokens to a secure workspace, from which they can be used to initiate federated tasks. More detail on how this works is available in the DRE Knowledge Base.
This feature will allow us to explore further uses of the Federated Node with our other customers and partners, so please contact us if this is something you are interested in.

Ross joined the Aridhia Product Team in January 2022. He is the Product Owner for FAIR Data Services, and Aridhia's open source federation project. He works with our customers to understand their needs, and with our Development Team to introduce new features and improve our products. Outside of work, he likes to go hill walking and is slowly working his way through Scotland's Munros.
